After the sudden death of her boyfriend, Vera would have been happy to spend the rest of her days curiously unnoticeable, washing bed sheets and cleaning toilets in present day Glastonbury. But when the strange new guest at her hotel reveals himself to be Merlin and drags her back to seventh century Camelot, a place she knows only from legends, only Vera (or Queen Guinevere as Merlin calls her) can right the course of history and save Arthur’s kingdom from the will of a power-hungry mage. There’s one enormous problem: Guinevere was the sole witness to the curse that’s now draining the kingdom of its magic, and Vera doesn’t remember anything of her supposed life as Queen Guinevere.

With Camelot’s peace ebbing ever closer to shattering, the clock is ticking. But working with Merlin’s magic to retrieve her long-lost memories and save the kingdom brings more questions than answers: why is it that King Arthur, who treats his subjects with loving benevolence, can’t even stand to look at her? And why does that make Vera’s soul feel like it’s splitting in two? What robbed her of her memories in the first place...
And most importantly... Why?

As Vera is about to discover; in a world of legend and power, the secrets of her memories are only the beginning.

Enchanting, witty and unique story about Lady Guinevere!

I truly could not have enjoyed a book more! I don’t even usually read fantasy books but I saw a tiktok video about the author and just felt incredibly drawn to her story about how it got written and have always been fascinated by Lady Guinevere. The story is so incredibly unique, the characters are very well developed and I felt like I was sitting at the edge of my seat to hear what was coming next. The narrator was a perfect fit for this as well. I desperately need a sequel to this ASAP because I am extremely invested in these characters now and I need to know what happens to ALL of them. I also have a ton of questions. :P I will be listening to it again this weekend just to get lost in this world once more. Thrilled for you and your success!

Thank you for your wonderful words and thank you for being a part of Audiobrary. We sincerely appreciate your support and hope you continue to find stories that further your invovolvement and enjoyment!

Loved every bit of it!

At 73, I never thought I would read a book of fantasy, time travel, magic potions, and King Arthur’s court. I could not put it down and have already listened to many passages over. And speaking of magic, Julia Whelan’s narration was nothing short of mesmerizing. Thank you, Paula, for sticking with this story for so long and letting your wonderful imagination sing. I will be returning to this book often and hope that it can even make it to the silver screen.

Loved reading your response! Thank you for being a part of Audiobrary and supporting authors and narrators. We hope you continue to find surprising and interesting audiobooks.

An Intriguing Take On An Old Legend!

I thoroughly enjoyed this take on the classic Camelot story and hope it is one of a series-lots of questions left unanswered! The narrative was a little choppy at times, with pieces not quite connecting, but nothing that ruined the story. Definitely recommend!

Exciting and not at all what I expected

I really enjoyed this foray into a reimagined and more "realistic" Arthurian legend and I am looking forward to the sequel !

Thank you for your words Catherine! Much appreciated.

Lumière de ma vie

I screamed through an entire chapter! My soul was gutted and re-stuffed, and I need more. Absolute triumph of a debut novel. I am relying on the hope that you'll give us more to this story before too long. Julia, you are STUNNING as always, I don't know how you do it. Coupla' mages at work here, I presume...
