Audiobrary is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to make that happen.

Our Commitment

We believe that everyone should be able to browse, purchase, and enjoy audiobooks without barriers. As an audiobook publisher and storefront, accessibility is core to our mission — audio storytelling is itself one of the most accessible ways to experience literature, and we want the shopping experience around it to match.

We aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility.

EU Compliance

Audiobrary sells to customers in the European Union, and we recognize our obligations under the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882), which has applied to e-commerce services since June 28, 2025. The EAA references the technical standard EN 301 549, which closely aligns with WCAG 2.2 Level AA — the same benchmark we apply site-wide.

Consistent with the EAA, we aim to ensure that:

• Our storefront, from browsing through checkout, is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for people using assistive technology.
• Accessibility-related information about our products and services is available to customers.
• Customers can reach us through accessible means to ask questions or report barriers (see Feedback, below).

This obligation applies because we offer our products to EU consumers, regardless of where Audiobrary is based.

Our Approach

audiobrary.com is built on Shopify. Shopify's managed checkout has undergone independent accessibility auditing and remediation toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Beyond checkout, our theme, product content, and installed apps are our own responsibility, and we are reviewing them against that same standard as part of our ongoing work — this statement will be updated to reflect specific measures as that work is completed.

Where our audiobooks are delivered through a third party (Soundwise's mobile app), see Known Limitations below.

Audio Content

Because our catalog is audio-first, accessibility for our audio content is part of our ongoing review, and includes goals such as:

• Providing text descriptions of each title on product pages, not just audio samples, so the content is available to users who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
• Ensuring audio previews and players are operable via keyboard, not just touch or mouse.

Purchased audiobooks are delivered through our audio partner, Soundwise, via the Soundwise mobile app on iOS and Android — see Known Limitations below for what we do and don't yet know about that app's accessibility.

Known Limitations

We're an evolving site, and some areas may not yet be fully accessible:

• Third-party checkout and widget elements — certain embedded elements (such as payment options or countdown timers) may have limited accessibility support outside of our direct control.
• Audiobook delivery app — purchased audiobooks are delivered and played through Soundwise, our third-party audio partner, via their mobile app. Soundwise does not currently publish its own accessibility statement, so we are not yet able to confirm or link to a specific accessibility commitment for the listening app itself. We are following up with Soundwise directly and will update this page as we learn more.
